Organic Pecan Kernels (Australian)

These delicious Australian grown ORGANIC pecan kernels are unique, buttery and rich tasting nuts. Pecans are very tasty and are famous for their use in desserts such as Pecan Pie. They are also used in baking, cereals, ice cream and salads.

Pecans are a rich source of energy and contain lots of nutritional benefits. They are rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acid like oleic acid and are an excellent source of phenolic antioxidants. The combination of these two properties helps to decrease total cholesterol and LDL while increasing HDL, the ‘good’ cholesterol.

Pecans are packed full of phyto-chemical substances contributing to the overall antioxidant quantity as well as vitamin E, a range of vitamin Bs including folate and minerals like manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium.

Storage 
Pecans have a high oil content. By storing pecans correctly, you are able to prolong their flavour, texture and freshness. Store unopened pecans in a cool, dry place. Once opened transfer to a dry, air tight container and keep in the fridge. Pecans readily absorb odours from other foods, so if they are not stored correctly this may result in off-flavours. We don’t recommend Pecans be kept in health food ‘bulk bins’ due to their delicate nature and storage requirements.
